Good Morning MVC · April 2ndby Pete DellaSantina on April 2, 2020
Good Morning MVC -
I like to make 'to-do' lists each day to plan out all the projects, appointments, and errands I want to accomplish. On busy workdays, I add times to my list to stay on top of it all. And on especially busy days I set timers on my iPhone to remind me where I'm supposed to be and what I'm supposed to be doing.
In these unprecedented crisis our nation and, indeed the world, is in the midst of a battle with an invisible enemy, COVID-19, our normal "to-do" lists have been tossed out the window. I invite you to join me tomorrow, April 2nd, for a Day of Prayer & Fast.
Our guiding text will be Psalm 10:17 "O Lord you hear the desire of the afflicted; You will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear." Updates and prompts for prayer will be posted on Facebook as well as a church-wide text message four times tomorrow. I also urge you to fast tomorrow, acknowledging our weakness and reliance on our Father in heaven.
7am prayers of adoration- pausing to express praise and worship to God
11am prayers of confession- ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any area of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank God for His forgiveness.
3pm prayers of thanksgiving- pause to offer an expression of Thanksgiving to Jesus
7pm prayers of intercession- join our livestream as we intercede on behalf of all who are suffering, serving in harms way, and seeking light in the darkest of days.
Philippians 4:6,7 says, "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Even in a time of social distancing we are not socially isolated. Let us join together our prayers and our full attention to the Lord to seek His face. So my 'to-do' list tomorrow is starts and ends with these two words: pray and fast.
