Good Morning MVC - June 16th

by David Miles on June 16, 2020

Hello MVC Family,

Do you ever find yourself laying in bed wide awake with a million thoughts running through your head? I imagine you do, and so do I. In fact last night was one of those nights. I found myself thinking about all of the hurt we see in our society right now, the challenge of wanting to see friends and family but also not wanting to risk getting sick or unknowingly getting someone else sick. I was also thinking about how I want to begin meeting together in worship but also wanting to be be responsible with how and when we do this.

I really found myself with a lot of questions and very few answers.

While prayer is always a good idea, it certainly is a good idea during times like this when we are at a loss for words, when the path forward seems confusing and when we begin to feel despair.

As you go about your day, I want to encourage you to set aside some time for prayer. Pray for all of those things that weigh heavy on your heart. Pray that God might give you wisdom, compassion and understanding. Pray that God would remind you of who He is. Pray that God would strengthen your trust in Him.

Consider using the Lord's Prayer as a starting point, using the prompts below to guide your prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name

Thank God for who He is and His abundant faithfulness.

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

Pray for God's rule and reign to be a reality in your life.

Give us this day our daily bread

Pray for God's daily provision in your life.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors

Confess your sins to the Lord, and forgive people who have wronged you.

Lead us not into temptation

Ask for God to guide you in 'paths of righteousness for His name sake.'

Deliver us from evil

Pray for God's protection against any of the strategies of Satan.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

*These prompts are from the Daily Prayer app. It's a great tool for helping guide you in prayer throughout the day.
