Good Morning MVC - July 9thby Sarah Goodale on July 9, 2020
Good Morning MVC,
Tonight at 7pm we will be having our Prayer and Praise night. Please join us for a time of prayer and an encouraging message from our Youth Director, Joe Phenisee. This Sunday the livestream will be back and we our also offering in person worship at 10:45 am. We had 100 spots available on Tuesday and we are now down to 23 so sign up today and join us for a safe and encouraging time of fellowship. This week has been our digital VBS and the pictures and stories coming from the families that have participated have been so fun to see. Please continue to pray for families as they participate and Focus (VBS theme) on Jesus this week.
Pastor Pete announced a couple weeks ago that our regular prayer requests had gone down substantially during this time and encouraged people to continue sending their prayer requests in. You can do this on our Facebook page, can send them to the firstname.lastname@example.org, or you can fill out a digital connection card. Now more than ever we should be coming together to pray for one another. This makes me consider James 5:13-17:
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
Two things I want to draw your attention to in this passage. 1. We are meant to live in community praying, praising, and caring for one another. And 2. Prayer is POWERFUL and EFFECTIVE. I love the example that is given by James of Elijah. Church family be reminded today that you are not alone, WE ARE FAMILY. We are called to live in community and fellowship with one another. We serve and our dearly loved by an all-powerful God that cares deeply for you.
I love you church family,
