Good Morning MVC - July 14th

by David Miles on July 14, 2020

Good morning MVC,

Today I want to take just a few moments to give some "shout outs" to individuals and teams at MVC that have been working so hard to serve our church family.

First, Gordon Moorman and our Trustees continue to meet and plan and actively care for our facility. While we have not been able to use it as regularly over the last few months, Gordon has continued to lead the intentional stewardship of our facility.

Karen Walker is another person who has also helped to steward our campus by taking the lead on making sure the grounds are in good shape. This means either by herself or with other volunteers, coming to the church to plant, prune and pull weeds even when people are not currently seeing the beautiful gardens. This is another way members of our church family are stepping up to care for the space God has blessed us with.

Speaking of care, our Deacons and small group leaders continue to care for members of the greater community as well as those that call MVC home. This comes many different forms, from financial support to encouraging conversations. I personally am so thankful for our small group leaders and their willingness to stay connected with the members of their groups because it would be incredibly difficult for the staff to personally contact each person. However as leaders in the church, our small group leaders have taken on that task.

I am also very thankful for our Children's Ministry team. Kami Wright, Shawn Scorup and Jill Phenisee not only continue to pull together great Sunday school lessons but they also creatively shared a great VBS experience with so many families.

One of the teams that you don't often see is our administrative team of  Kim Binder, Trista Roppel, Becca Twitchell and Alison Mendenhall. This team continues to keep us running smoothly as an organization and are so essential to our communication with you. They also help to make sure you are able to sign up to attend service in person.

Attending service is a big deal, whether from your home or physically getting back into the building and I want to give another shout out to Rob Wood and Corey Plett for making that happen week in and week out. We also have a great team of other volunteers that work the cameras, lights and projection. Without all of them we would not be able to continue having the services we have each week.

Finally, as we have begun to navigate in person services, I want to let you know what a great job Sarah Goodale has done thinking through our policies and procedures for in person worship gatherings. It has been a very smooth process getting people back in the building and that is in large part due to the work Sarah has done.

Reading through this list it might seem like a lot of people but this is only scratching the tip of the iceberg of the people (many of you) who invest faithfully in the ministry God has called us to at MVC.

I hope you are encouraged by the work people are doing to love and serve you, and I encourage you to share your gratitude with these people or others that are going out of their way to help, whether that is at church, the store, your doctor's office or perhaps just a neighbor down the street.

Blessings!

David
